Privacy Policy
What stays on your device
The game stores the following in your device's local storage. We do not upload it to a server of our own:
- Your progress: the next level, the highest level reached, and your coins.
- Your guns: which ones you own, their upgrade levels, and which one is equipped.
- Your sound setting, and whether you have cleared the first level.
- What you have bought (for example Remove Ads), so it is not granted twice.
- Your best results (the highest level cleared and your best streak), the last score the leaderboard confirmed, and whether you have signed in to Game Center through the game.
There is no cloud save for the campaign and no way for us to see any of it. Deleting the game deletes it. The Online Arena is the one part of the game that uses our server; it is described next.
Online Arena (optional)
The Arena is a 1v1 online mode. Nothing below happens unless you open it.
Your Arena account
- Anonymous by default. When you open the Arena, the app signs in to Google Firebase Authentication anonymously. You are not asked for a name, email or password.
- Saving the account (optional, iPhone and iPad). You can save your Arena account with Sign in with Apple so you can recover it on another device. Apple may share your name and email address (or a private relay address, if you choose "Hide My Email") with Firebase Authentication, which keeps them with the account. Our Arena server does not read or store your name or email; it only records that the account is saved. On Android the Arena account is anonymous only.
What our Arena server stores
The Arena server runs on Render (Frankfurt, Germany) and stores its data in Google Cloud Firestore:
- Your Arena profile: a random profile ID, a one-way hash of your Firebase account ID, your Arena name, your rating, wins, losses and draws, the soldier skins you own and the one you use, whether the account is saved, and when you last connected.
- Matches: for each match, the profile IDs of the two players (or a computer opponent), when it happened, the result and the rating changes.
- Arena purchases: when Arena skins are bought, a one-way hash of the store transaction and the skin it unlocked, so a purchase is only granted once.
The server does not store your IP address, device details, name or email. While you are connected, your IP address is held in the server's memory for about a minute to limit abusive connections, and is then dropped. Render may keep its own technical logs under its policy: render.com/privacy.
What other players see
- In a match: your Arena name, rating and skin, your random profile ID, and your squad during the battle.
- On the top-50 ranking: your Arena name, rating, wins, losses, draws and skin.
Your Arena name starts as "Runner" plus six characters. You can choose your own name and change it at any time outside a match; names are filtered and other players can see them, so avoid using your real name if you'd rather not share it.
Computer opponents
If no other player joins, you play a computer opponent labelled "Arena Bot". These matches are ranked: they change your rating and record. The computer opponent has no account and no data.
Arena and purchases: RevenueCat
When you use the Arena, the app and our server identify your Arena account to RevenueCat with a pseudonymous ID derived from your account (not your name or email), so that Arena purchases and restores can be checked. When you delete your Arena account, we ask RevenueCat to delete that record too; if RevenueCat can't be reached, we keep only that pseudonymous ID and retry for up to 30 days.
How long Arena data is kept
- An anonymous Arena profile that has not connected for 90 days is deleted, together with its anonymous sign-in record at Firebase Authentication. A saved profile is kept until you delete it.
- Match records are deleted 90 days after the match.
- When an Arena account is deleted, we keep a one-way hash of its Firebase account ID and the deletion date, so old results cannot be replayed into a deleted account. It contains no name, email, purchase or payment information.
Deleting or exporting your Arena data
In the Arena, open Account:
- Delete account removes your Arena profile, its purchase links and your match records, deletes your Firebase account and asks RevenueCat to delete your Arena purchase record. On iPhone and iPad, a saved account asks you to sign in with Apple again and the game revokes its Sign in with Apple authorization. Results your opponents keep show you only as "deleted" until they are removed after 90 days. Deletion is not possible during a match, and it does not cancel or refund store purchases.
- Export my data gives you a copy of your Arena profile and match results.
You can also email us to delete or get a copy of your Arena data.
What leaves your device
Usage statistics: Google Analytics for Firebase
To see where the game is too hard, too easy or confusing, the app sends short records of play to Google Analytics for Firebase:
- When the app is opened.
- Levels started, cleared or failed: the level, the squad size, how far you got, what ended the run, the play time and the coins earned.
- Boss fights started and won, the first few gates of a level (the gate and the squad size before and after), and a summary of the gates at the end of a level.
- Guns picked up or upgraded, opening the Armory, purchases (the product and its price), ads shown (where in the game, and whether a reward was earned), revives, and finishing the first level.
- Opening the Top Players leaderboard, and whether it loaded, you were signed out, or it failed. Never your score, rank or nickname.
With them, Firebase records an ID it creates for this installation of the app (not your name, account or device serial), the device model and operating system, the app version, language and country. We never send your name or any advertising identifier: the app is set up so that Firebase does not read the IDFA or the Android Advertising ID, and these statistics are not used for advertising or ad personalisation. Google processes them on our behalf: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Advertising: Google AdMob
The free game shows a banner on the menu, Armory and result screens (never while you play), an occasional full-screen ad between levels, and optional rewarded video ads you can choose to watch (to revive your squad, double your coins or get a free upgrade). These are served by Google AdMob, which collects:
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), when you allow it.
- Device and app information: model, operating system version, app version, coarse region and language.
- Whether an ad was shown, viewed, or tapped.
- Diagnostic information about the ad software, such as crash and performance data.
Google uses this to select ads, to measure them, and to detect fraud. Google's own policy governs what it does with the data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the game asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown.
On iOS, the app asks for permission before any of this is used to track you across other companies' apps. Declining is fine: you still get ads, they are just less targeted. You can change the answer later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Buying "Remove Ads" or the Starter Pack stops the banner and the full-screen ads. Rewarded ads stay available, and are only requested when you choose to watch one.
Purchases: RevenueCat, Apple, and Google
If you buy something, the payment is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details, name, or billing address.
To confirm a purchase is genuine and to restore it on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-specific user ID, the store receipt, and the product you bought. RevenueCat's policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Leaderboard: Apple Game Center (optional, iOS)
The Top Players table is Apple's Game Center. It is optional: the game does not contact Game Center until you open Top Players, and after that only if you signed in through the game before. The account is your Apple Game Center account, not one of ours, and we never see your login details. It is separate from the Online Arena ranking.
- What is sent: your Squad Score (the highest level you cleared and your best streak) goes to Apple, under your Game Center nickname, and Apple shows it to other players on the board. Apple's Game Center privacy terms apply: apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/game-center.
- What we receive: the top 100 nicknames and scores, and your own rank, to draw the table. We never receive a Game Center player ID, and nothing from Game Center is sent to Firebase or RevenueCat.
- Opting out: decline the sign-in, or turn Game Center off in Settings → Game Center. The table then shows a sign-in button instead, and the rest of the game is unchanged.
Children
The game contains cartoon combat with zombies and monsters. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are limited to content rated for teens. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the ad networks, contact us and we will help you raise it with Google.
Your rights
Outside the Online Arena we hold nothing that identifies you. To remove everything associated with the app:
- Arena data: delete or export it in the Arena under Account, or email us (see "Deleting or exporting your Arena data" above). Uninstalling the game does not delete a saved Arena account.
- Delete your local data: uninstall the app.
- Usage statistics: uninstalling the app resets the installation ID, so later play cannot be linked to earlier records.
- Reset advertising data: reset your advertising identifier in your device settings, as described above.
- Opt out of personalised ads: decline the tracking prompt on iOS, or turn off ad personalisation in your Android settings.
- Requests about data held by Google (AdMob, Firebase) or RevenueCat: go to them directly, at the policy links above. We can point you to the right form.
- Leaderboard scores: Apple holds them with your Game Center account; manage them through Game Center and Apple's privacy page linked above.
If you are in the EU or UK, the legal basis for personalised advertising is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the settings above; the legal basis for processing a purchase, and for running the Online Arena you choose to play, is performance of our contract with you; limiting abusive connections is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the Arena working.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date changes and the new version is posted at the same address.
